Member of Islemoor Ward since 2003 representing 7 rural villages. Attending Parish Council meetings. I sit on Area North Committee including Planning. Area North Community Safety Action Panel a partnership with South Somerset & Mendip District Council. Community Safety Action Panel The Council overview & Scrutiny Committee. In June, 2005 I gained a B-Tech in Local Governance from Bristol City Council. My ward is made up of 7 rural parishes one of which includes a permanent council gypsy site. Parish Council meetings are a must. I have recently been successful in helping to get funding for one local PO for a new door and a large grant from her Area Committee for a car park for a new village hall in and area of rural depravation. On footpaths I have lost count of all the new gates that have replaced old stiles achieved through Parish, DC and members working in partnership. I have taken advantage of several training days and as a retired nurse found the County wide event on a Pandemic and the roll of the councillors in this emergency particularly helpful as a member of Area North.
